The Impact of Technology on Sport

0

Technology has had a profound impact on the world of sport. From the way we train and prepare for competition, to the way we consume and engage with sport, technology has played a pivotal role in shaping the modern sporting landscape.

The way we train and prepare for competition:

Technology has transformed the way athletes train and prepare for competition. The use of GPS tracking and analysis, for example, has allowed coaches to gain a greater understanding of an athlete’s performance and identify areas for improvement. Novak Djokovic, for example, has used GPS data to improve his stamina and reduce his injury risk. The Serbian tennis player has worked with a company called Playertek to monitor his physical performance during matches and training sessions.

Playertek’s GPS devices are small enough to fit inside a player’s shirt and measure a range of statistics, including distance covered, maximum speed, and number of sprints. This data is then transmitted wirelessly to a tablet or laptop, where it can be analyzed by the player and their coach.

The way we consume and engage with sport:

Technology has also changed the way we consume and engage with sport. The rise of social media and streaming services has made it easier than ever to follow our favourite teams and athletes, and catch up on the latest action.

Here at Sport England we’re always looking at how to use the latest technology to make it easier for you to get active.

The Active Lives Survey is our annual measure of sport and physical activity in England, and our app is designed to make it even easier for you to take part. When you download the app you’ll be asked to take part in the survey and answer a few questions about your activity habits. The app doesn’t track your activity or location, but we will ask you to tell us what activities you’ve done and how long for. We’ll then use this information to understand how active people are in England, and what we can do to help more people get active.

The impact of technology on the business of sport:

Technology has also had a major impact on the business of sport. The use of data and analytics has allowed clubs and organisations to better understand their fans and customers, and tailor their offering accordingly. It has also allowed them to better understand their players and how to keep them fit and healthy. And it has allowed them to connect with fans in new and innovative ways, using social media and other digital platforms. If you have more details use this link https://zumroad.com/sport

The future of technology in sport:

Looking to the future, it is clear that technology will continue to play a major role in the world of sport. From the way we train and compete, to the way we consume and engage with sport, technology will continue to shape the modern sporting landscape.
